Nim's Fruit Crisps to supply Ocado supermarket
13:00, 09 November 2017
A fruit crisp manufacturer is poised to double its weekly turnover by the end of the year after signing its second deal with a supermarket in as many months.
Nim’s Fruit Crisps has begun supplying online retailer Ocado with five of its lines made at its factory in Sittingbourne.
It follows a contract it announced in September to stock its products on the shelves of more than 60 Co-op stores across the South East.
The healthy snack maker produces gluten and dairy free crisps which count as one of consumers’ five a day.
Its products are already stocked in schools across the country after it secured a contract with education and healthcare distributor Handmade Speciality Products in June.
The deal with Ocada, which sends more than 200,000 deliveries a week, followed an unsuccessful attempt by Nim’s to win the supermarket’s Britain’s Next Top Supplier competition.
However, its bosses “liked what they saw” according to company founder Nimisha Raja.
She said: “That’s two major breakthroughs for our brand in just two months and I’m sure this will act as a platform for further retail opportunities.”
Andrew Ayres, senior buying manager at Ocado, said: “When we came across Nim’s Fruit Crisps during our Britain’s Next Top Supplier competition, we knew they would be a perfect fit for Ocado.”
