Olympic torch from 1948 to go on display
14:31, 18 April 2012
A torch carried through Kent in the run-up to the 1948 Olympic Games is set to light up the county’s business show of the year.
The original and photographs of its progress through Maidstone will be the centrepiece of the KM stand at Kent 2020 Vision LIVE held tomorrow at the county showground, Detling.
The torch display has been made possible by the efforts of Lloyds Banking Group, a main Olympic sponsor.
Thousands of business people are expected at the south east's biggest business show. It is by BSK-CIC with partners Kent County Council, the Kent Event Centre and the KM Group.
The exhibition will showcase hundreds of stands representing businesses large and small.
Special zones will be devoted to a wide range of hot topics including apprenticeships, financial advice, innovation, technology, low carbon, tourism and hospitality.
Keynote speeches, workshops and networking events are being held throughout the day. The exhibition opens at 8.30am and closes at 5pm.
