Kent’s largest shopping centre has begun work on combining a number of shops for the arrival of Primark after the clothes retailer took out a lease.
The low-cost fashion chain has leased a 60,000 sq ft space across two floors between House of Fraser and All Saints, with a store due to open next year.
Primark’s move to Bluewater, which was exclusively revealed by KentOnline in September, prompted former tenant the Early Learning Centre to close its store and open a concession within Mothercare at the centre.
The units will remain vacant while work is carried out to combine them.
It will result in 46,000 sq ft of selling space, with the remainder used for stock and office functions.
The new store will sell women’s, men’s and children’s fashions, as well as footwear, lingerie, beauty and homeware.
Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Landsec, co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater, said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance our offer, from securing new premium brands to ensuring we provide the very best of affordable fashion.
“By providing a comprehensive, relevant and engaging offer, from brands to experiences, we ensure Bluewater remains the number one destination.”
