Car sales bid at Shukriya, Hot and Lily Spice restaurant in Stockbury
15:22, 26 April 2013
Plans have been submitted to transform a former eatery into a car showroom.
Developers want to renovate an empty spot, off the A249 in Stockbury and turn it into a motor sales centre with a forecourt and staff facilities.
Restaurants called Shukriya, Hot and Lily Spice have previously been situated on the site. If the proposal is approved by Maidstone council, the plot’s car park will be reduced from 50 spaces to 12 for customers and eight staff members.
The anonymous applicant is described as an “established business” which sells American vehicles and hybrid cars. Its proposal states customers usually visit the stockist’s existing site after identifying their chosen car on the internet. Flags, banners or bunting would not be displayed.
People have until Thursday, May 23, to comment on the designs. The application can be viewed at www.maidstone.gov.uk.
