University of Kent and Kent County Cricket Club team up in room deal
16:32, 01 May 2013
Rooms in halls of residence are on offer to cricket fans wanting to watch Kent matches at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury.
The University of Kent and Kent County Cricket Club (KCCC) have teamed up for the 2013 season to make accommodation easily available by booking online at www.kentbandb.com.
Rates start from £30 per person/night for a standard single or from £45 per person/night for en-suite single.
The new partnership is marked by a 10% discount to ticketholders for matches at the St Lawrence Road Ground.
Set in 450 acres of landscaped grounds overlooking Canterbury, the university offers more than 4,000 rooms on campus during the Easter and summer vacations. Around 1,700 are en-suite.
The university is linked to the St Lawrence Ground by a regular bus service.
Kevin Stuckey, the university’s residences and conference manager at the University, said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Kent County Cricket Club. We had excellent feedback on our accommodation from cricket fans who stayed with us last year so it makes sense for us to formalise our partnership with the club.”
Pat Mellsop, commercial director at Kent CCC, added: “We hope that many Kent and our opposition cricket supporters who travel from further afield will choose to extend their stay in Canterbury. They can attend matches for more than one day by taking advantage of the good value accommodation offered at the University of Kent, plus view the many attractions in Canterbury and the surrounding areas.”
