A spokesman for the Met Office said the south east would enjoy some of the best of the sunshine: "Early mist and low cloud will soon clear to leave a fine and largely sunny day with light winds.

"It will be feeling hot inland, a little cooler near the coast though with gentle onshore breezes.

"Temperatures will reach a maximum of 33C."

And the hot weather is likely to be a vital shot in the arm to many events and attractions, which will hope the crowds will flock to their events.

Roads to the county's top beaches are expected to see heavy traffic.

Meanwhile, health chiefs are urging people to take care in the high temperatures.

Kent County Council director for public health, Andrew Scott-Clark, said: “Weather like this is something many people look forward to every year and go out and enjoy.

"But it’s worth remembering that sunny spells can pose health risks for some people.

"It’s important to protect yourself from too much sun or heat, to carry water when travelling and to think of those, such as young children or older people, who may feel the heat more acutely than others.”
