One of the county's major truckstops has won a major award.
The Ashford International Truckstop, just off Junction 10 of the M20, has won the award for the best Large Truckstop of the Year 2019.
The GSE Group owned site, at Waterbrook Park, was nominated by its customers for the awards, which are organised by the industry’s national trucking newspaper, Truckstop News.
The award comes as construction of the new multi-million pound 28,000 square feet truckstop, located close to the original one, is well under way and set to open in the spring
The overall size of the new lorry park is 20 acres and will provide 660 HGV parking spaces.
The existing truckstop is open 24 hours, seven days a week, and offers secure and guarded parking alongside a shop and a gym.
Darren Smith, general manager of Ashford International Truckstop, said: “We are honoured to have been awarded this, and we would like to thank each of our customers who took the time to nominate us. We won Truckstop of the Year in 2016, Best Overnight Stay in 2017, and it’s fantastic to win the ultimate prize.
“This award tops off a very exciting 2019 for us which saw the number of vehicle spaces increase from 143,206 to 150,921.
"This year will be another exciting one for the team at Ashford International Truckstop as the team gets ready to move to the new facility."
