00:01, 13 September 2016
The director of the county’s top art gallery will address academics from around the world at a major tourism education conference in Kent.
Victoria Pomery from the Turner Contemporary in Margate will speak at the annual event held by Atlas – the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research – which is marking its 25th year.
The conference, to be held at Canterbury Christ Church University, will also hear from London Paramount Entertainment Resort chief executive David Testa.
Sandra Matthews-Marsh, the chief executive of Visit Kent, which co-organises the event, will lead a workshop on contemporary cultural tourism with Sarah Dance, project leader of arts organisation Cultural Kent.
Ms Matthews-Marsh said: “We are delighted to welcome leading tourism academics to Canterbury this month for what will be not only an exciting, but an important examination of the tourism industry and its relationships with modern travellers and locations.
“We look forward to a lively and thought-provoking conference.”
The Atlas annual conference takes place from Wednesday, September 14 to Friday, September 16.
