A highly regarded village pub has been snapped up for £25,000 below the guide price.

The Hop Pocket in Bossingham, between Stelling Minnis and Petham, near Canterbury was put on the market in April with a guide price of £415,000.

And the freehold has now been sold for an agreed fee of £390,000 by new owner Thorsons Farms Limited.

The new owner hopes on reopening to provide additional community amenity and benefits following discussion with the local stakeholders.

James Hughes, senior business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “The Hop Pocket garnered plenty of interest and we did receive a number of offers. The market in Kent is always buoyant so we were always confident of being able to find a buyer for the Hop Pocket.”

The pub is rated with a score of four out of five in the Good Pub Guide.
