A nationwide initiative championing women entrepreneurs launches in the county today.
Make It Your Business will run various event throughout the year, bringing training, resources and support to those thinking of starting, or those already running a business.
With the support of global female leaders - among them Prime Minister Theresa May - the Kent launch is supported by Jo James, chief executive of the Kent Chamber of Commerce.
It takes place in Maidstone.
The Maidstone events will be championed by Claire Harvey, a business owner with over 30 years’ experience in establishing and building businesses. She is mostly known for her business Seekers Estate Agents, based in Maidstone and Medway. Today she is a business coach.
She said: "Having been in business in the town for a number of years, I’ve met many women at business events and I truly believe there is so much potential right here on our doorstep. The biggest hurdle I see is confidence and not having the answers or access to ask someone who has the answers. I’m excited to watch the women who join us flourish.”
The event, being staged at the Grangemoor Hotel in the county town, runs from 4pm to 6pm. It costs £10 which includes a lifetime membership fee.
The initiative forms part of the National Women’s Enterprise Network, and was founded in 2017 by entrepreneur, writer and broadcaster Alison Cork.
Tickets must be purchased in advance via EventBrite.
