11 stunning photos as Kent basks in hottest day of the year

Time to get your sunglasses, sun cream and beach towels at the ready - today looks to be the hottest day of 2020 so far.

During the scorching heatwave many of you have been basking in the beauty of Kent's countryside and taking photos of all the beautiful places you've visited, so we thought we'd share some of the best.

Botany Bay is a revered spot for Kent's sun-seekers, with unparalleled views out across the North Sea.

The sandy beach in Broadstairs is most famous for its huge chalk stacks and archway etched into the cliff face.

A few friends took to Farthing Common, near Folkestone, to admire the majesty of the late sunset.

The Kent Downs stretches out across 153 miles, and offers some of the county's most tranquil views.

Watersports lovers are taking to the water in the sweltering heat, from jet skiers to canoe enthusiasts.

This group of friends took their canoes down the Grove Ferry River, just past Canterbury.

Looking for a slightly more high-octane experience, these sailors decided to embark in a spot of racing.

Taken just off the coast in Hythe, this drone photo captured a very different perspective of the beautiful coast.

Away from the water, this photographer decided to go in search of the glorious poppy fields.

This was taken in Faversham, offering visitors a stunning sea of red.

One walker decided to wander across the fields in Tonbridge to get a view of the sunset peeking over the hills.

This picturesque path eventually leads to the Southborough viaduct, another popular photo-taking spot.

This vantage point offers views of Ramsgate Harbour teeming with boats, not to mention hoards of seagulls.

Beyond the harbour lies Pegwell and Sandwich Bay, two lesser-known places to enjoy the summer sun.

We humans aren't the only ones who need to cool off in the intense heat.

Bella took some much-needed respite in a dog paddling pool, whilst being looked after by EveryDog Creche in Snodland.

Take a walk along Minnis Bay in Birchington at sunset and you may be lucky enough to be greeted by this fiery view.

From the shore you can see the 100-strong offshore wind turbines, which sit 12km out to sea.

Quite possibly the most famous spot in the entire county, this is a popular place to visit when the summer heat arrives in full force.

From the top of the White Cliffs in Dover, it is possible to get a good view of the French coast - providing the haze isn't too strong.

A little further along the coast, the Folkestone Harbour Arm offers similarly beautiful views across the Channel, as the sun sets across Kent.
