Dubbed Suzuki’s most advanced model ever, the V-Strom employs a gutsy 1,036cc engine producing 99bhp at 8,000rpm and 76lb.ft at just 4,000rpm, highlighting its bias towards real usability and overtaking punch.
It is also capable of delivering up to 59mpg, for a theoretical range of 259 miles from its 20-litre fuel tank.
A sophisticated traction control system developed by Suzuki’s MotoGP engineers uses five sensors across the bike to determine relative wheel speed, lean angle and more to deliver, the firm claims, optimum traction in all conditions.
The aluminium twin-spar chassis is also all-new and helps to reduce weight by 8kg compared to the original V-Strom 1000. Suzuki says its 228kg kerb weight is the lightest in the class.
It maintains a 19-inch front wheel for a balance of stability and agility, with a wide selection of tyres available to fit.
Luggage designed during the bike’s development will also be on offer, made to measure for this bike and aimed at increasing its appeal to long-distance riders.
Suzuki GB General Manager, Paul de Lusignan, commented, "We've all been eagerly anticipating the final specification of the new V-Strom 1000, so to get some hard facts as we approach the launch period is great.
"Pricing is naturally a crucial question that's been asked of us in the run-up to the launch of the new V-Strom and I'm pleased to announce that the new model will be priced around the £10,000 mark, making it one of the most competitively priced models available. We look forward to confirming an exact price soon."
