A centenary celebration with a wild side
10:41, 22 May 2007
TO CELEBRATE 100 years of Scouting around the world a special event is being laid on right here in Kent as thousands of Scout Association and Girlguiding UK members gather at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.
Totally Wild 2007 will start in the beautiful 600-acre wild animal park with a chance to see some of the world's most rare and endangered species.
Once they have enjoyed all the sights, sounds and smells of the wild, they will head over to the music arena where the evening entertainment will get underway.
The pop party, hosted by Newsround presenter Lizzie Greenwood, will be serving up some of the UK's top bands. Amongst the line up is Kent's very own Ben Mills, the X factor star.
The event if open to all members of The Scout Association, Girlguiding UK, and anyone with an interest in celebrating this special centenary. Tickets for the event on June 30 cost £22 and can be booked online at www.kentscouts2007.org.uk.
Kent Scout leader Andy Trill said: "I'm delighted to be organising this great event. We know the day will be a huge success enjoyed by thousands of our members, their families, friends and those interested in seeing modern Scouting in action."
