KENT singer Adam Chandler is out of the X Factor after his band’s mentor Simon Cowell made a last-minute change to their dance routine.

Adam’s band, Futureproof, were the third act to leave the ITV1 talent show on Saturday night.

Judge Danni Minogue thought the band’s choice of song, Can’t Take My Eyes off You, by Andy Williams and the Boystown Gang, was the wrong choice.

Fellow judge Louis Walsh criticised the group for not dancing, despite their pre-recorded video showing them choreographing moves for the live performance.

After the public had cast their votes Futureproof and girl band Hope, both mentored by Cowell, were the bottom two acts.

Walsh, and Sharon Osbourne voted to keep Hope, with Minogue voting to keep Futureproof. The deciding vote was cast by Cowell, who chose Hope, based on the fact he thought they had the best long-term prospects.

But Adam, 22, from Eccles, near Maidstone, said it was Cowell who changed the dance routine at the last moment.

He said: "Our dance routine was changed twice and at the last minute Simon Cowell said we would be doing the song with mike stands.

"That is very different from having the mike in your hand and meant we had to change the routine at the last minute."

Adam added: "Everyone seemed really shocked we were leaving and no-one saw it coming.

"We were gutted but at the end of the day I respect Simon’s opinion and the judges know who is going to make them the most money. At the end of the day it is a business."

Viewers were also stunned by Futureproof’s exit. A poll run by GMTV on Monday showed 81 per cent of respondents felt it was wrong of Simon Cowell to send the boy band home.

Adam said Futureproof will stay together. This week he is spending time with his mother, June Diplock, who lives in Eccles, before hunting for a flat in London which he will share with his bandmates. Futureproof will take part in the X Factor tour which starts in February.
