Adrian Quaife-Hobbs claimed a win and a second place at the Hungaroring Auto GP.

The Kent racer (pictured) claimed pole position at the Hungarian round of the championship and produced a dominant display in race one.

He crossed the line almost 30 seconds ahead of nearest challenger Victor Guerin.

Quaife-Hobbs’ victory came despite a poor get away from the start as too much wheel-spin saw race rivals Pal Varhaug and Sergey Sirotkin pass him.

But Quaife-Hobbs soon got to grips with the race and powered his way to victory.

Varhaug claimed victory in the second outing after a great battle with Quaife-Hobbs but it is the Kent man who leads the point standings, with a 43 point gap over the race two winner.

On two wheels there was little for Sittingbourne’s Shane Byrne to smile about as he finished 11 during the opening race of the Bank Holiday British Superbike Championship round at Oulton Park.

The Kawasaki racer tweeted: “Gutted about today’s race, had a fuel pressure issue that got worse as the race went on, bike kept cutting out, lucky to finish.”

Maidstone’s Scott Smart finished the race in 19 position.
