Gillingham extended their unbeaten run in League 2 to eight games but had to settle for another point.
Home side Aldershot took the lead with 13 minutes left through Danny Hylton but, five minutes later, it was all-square when John Nutter buried a direct free-kick against his old club.
Cody McDonald cracked an effort against the post late on for the Gills but that vital win eluded them once more.
Gillingham posed little attacking bite in the opening half and had just one shot on target, with Adebayo Akinfenwa’s curling shot being well saved by keeper Jamie Young on 36 minutes.
Prior to that effort the Gills’ only other effort came from defender Matt Lawrence but his effort went well wide, hitting the roof of the stand.
Aldershot didn’t create much more and Alan Julian was only forced into making one save in the opening 45 minutes. He clutched onto John Halls’ downward header with just six minutes gone.

Gills made a change at the break, in a bid to liven things up, with Andy Barcham coming on for Danny Jackman.
As soon as the second half began, the Gills looked like a different team and Kevin Maher had the ball in the back of the net from 35 yards but it was ruled out for handball.
With 50 minutes gone McDonald found himself in space from just a few yards out but Young made a fantastic save to tip the delicate shot wide, despite the referee giving a goal-kick.
Aldershot rode their luck for the opening quarter of the second half, but Julian was called upon just after the hour mark to save first low down from Guttridge and then from Jermaine McGlashan.
Aldershot took the lead with 77 minutes gone when John Halls played the ball forward to Hylton, he side-stepped Garry Richards and then shot in low past Julian.
Nutter, who played 79 times for Aldershot in non-league, hit the equaliser with a free-kick that curled past Young.
Gillingham nearly won it with a minute left, during a tense finale, as McDonald cracked an effort against the post.
