Lusha Beauty has landed a hat-trick of wins during June and looks to be at the top of his game, having now won two A3-graded races, followed up by an impressive victory at A2 level.

The latter was not totally unexpected as the Pat Thompson-trained dog has always had that little bit of class, but the manner of the win suggests that he will continue to give a good account of himself.

The dog led from trap to line, recording a very decent time of 23.32secs for the 380 metres.

If you need a comparison then look no further than the winner’s time of 23.75 in the top-grade A1 race that followed on the same card. The winner of that race also had a clear run, so in the right company you would have to think that Lusha could make it a four-timer.

Interestingly his latest two sectional times, trap to line, have been two of the fastest that he has produced here, so he may need to continue to produce similar fast starts if he is to win in the top grade.

The rise through the grading system made by Evons Kyalli has been meteoric, having gone from bottom grade A8 up to top grade A1 in just 22 races.

The grading system ensures that after a win a greyhound will meet a stronger quality of opponents in their next race, so you have to admire the way in which she has continued to overcome the increased challenges. Surely it will not be too long before she wins an A1 race.

Trainer Ian Stevens will be delighted with the dogs’ efforts to date, and at just two years and two months of age, she looks like becoming one of our top dogs at Crayford.

My newcomer for you to follow is Close Range, trained by Julie Luckhurst. The dog has only had four races here to date and will not lose her puppy status until November.

She has had three A6 races, in which she finished second twice and a third place, however her latest run in a P2 puppy race saw her registering her first win here in a fast time of 23.62 seconds.

She looks to have plenty of early pace and she is still in the learning process, so you can expect her to show more improvement – and her latest time is more than good enough to win in grade A6.

Just a reminder that the Big Dog tour is here this weekend. Bunny is a 24ft greyhound positioned on the top of a stretch limousine which tours around the country promoting greyhound racing. You can see the car here on Friday and Saturday evening. Details can be found at www.crayford.com
