It was an excellent weekend for column followers with both my featured greyhound’s, Reluctant and Tarsna Inca, winning at combined odds of eight-and-a-half to one.

My "value" dog Reluctant proved the point yet again as he powered home in style in an A4 race on Friday evening.

The dog could only manage third place away from the traps but waited for his chance until turning out of the last bend to overhaul the opposition, crossing the line just under two lengths clear.

This victory shows just how versatile he is given that he needs further than the 380 metres of this race.

So having now won two on the bounce is he capable of landing a three timer? I would not bet against him.

My opinion that Tarsna Inca has that little bit of class also proved to be correct as the Julie Luckhurst-trained dog won her first-ever Open race last Saturday evening.

The race over 540 metres was probably decided in the first 200 metres as Tarsna led away from the traps and held on gamely to cross the line just a short head in front of the fast finishing Fawkham Heaven.

The race was also a very decent recommendation for the chances of the beaten Fawkham Heaven who won her first ever Open race at the end of March and the fact is she would probably have won this had she not given Inca such a head start.

Friday evening proved to be a good night for two dogs that carry the "Zena" prefix.

Zenas Hawk won well by three-and-a-half lengths in an A6 race whilst kennelmate Zenas Jack won the top flight A1 race.

At the present time we have 10 greyhounds with the Zena prefix racing out of the Davidson kennel here and all are past winners.

You could do a lot worse than follow the name and I can guarantee they will generate winners for you.

My special mention this week is for Karma Carly who will be five years of age in September.

She is a greyhound that has served both her trainer Ian Stevens and the track so well. She is simply the type of dog that demands your respect through her efforts.

I always look forward to seeing her run over the 714 metres distance here and with five wins and a second from her last seven starts over that distance, there is little more that I can say other than she will always do her best for you.
