This Friday night’s meeting will celebrate the 25th anniversary since the opening of the new track in September 1986.

The stadium coincidentally has 25 different grades of racing ability for its runners covering all grades over the 380, 540, 714 and 874 metres distances.

As we have 12 races on an evening card, the second half of the celebrations will take place on the following Friday, September 30.

Ladbrokes, as owners of the stadium, have ensured that both nights’ racing will fit the bill by putting £1,000 prize money on each of the 25 races. All of the dogs competing will be trained by trainers contracted to Crayford, thereby giving our regular runners the chance to win a big prize.

Several grades will be having a knockout competition to produce the finalists for the Friday nights’ races.

Entry fee at the turnstiles on these two nights has been set at just £2.50 and we will be giving free entry to anyone born in 1986, subject to identification, and the first 250 paying customers on each night will get a free drink.

If you fancy a meal, the price will be only £25 per head with a free bottle of champagne on each table booked.

While the track has staged many major racing occasions over the years, these two anniversary evenings will be the "icing on the cake."

On the racing front, the bookmakers did not give Kellystown Andy much of a chance sending the dog off at 7-1 in his latest A5 race and they nearly had egg on their faces as he came home in second place beaten by only a length and a half.

While he is still looking for his first win at this level, on the evidence of this performance it should not be too long before he scores.
