Animated youngsters bring clean living to life

Video: pupils of
Kingsmead Primary School produced this animation

Students got a taste of life in the slow lane when they joined
in an animation competition.

Animator Dan
Richards launched the project in January,
aimed at primary schools, together with CleanKent, KentTV.com and KCC Extended Schools
Service.

Students of Kingsmead Primary School in Canterbury were
overjoyed to be presented first place in the Animate and
Create awards at Canterbury Christ Church University.

The competition challenged pupils to create a
short piece of animation around the theme
Cleaner, Greener, Safer’ for the
CleanKent Campaign.

The winning class was presented with an
animation kit for their school and certificates. There were
23 entries submitted by 11 different schools and the schools and
awards that they won are as follows:

  • Kingsmead Primary School (Canterbury) – First Place
  • Churchill Primary School (Westerham) – Second Place
  • Chevening CEP School (Sevenoaks) – Highly Commended
  • Chiddingstone CofE Primary (Edenbridge) - Highly Commended
  • East Borough Primary School (Maidstone) - Highly Commended
  • Frittenden Primary School (Cranbrook) - Highly Commended
  • Madginford Park Junior School (Maidstone) - Highly Commended
  • Blean Primary School (Canterbury) - Merit
