A YOUNG man has been arrested following an allegation of a rape on a 16-year-old girl.

She was allegedly assaulted at the riverside, Medway Valley Leisure Park, Strood, after she spent an evening at the Amadeus nightclub.

The area was cordoned off as crime scene investigators scoured the scene for forensic evidence folowing the alleged incident at around 2.20am on Saturday,

An 18-year-old man from Sheppey has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Detectives say the girl comes from the Medway Towns area.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Adam Marshall, said: “There would have been quite a few people in the area, either leaving the nightclub or meeting friends outside.

“These people may have witnessed something that proves crucial to this investigation. I would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help us with our inquiries.”
