Vote for the best place in Kent to get a full English breakfast

It's St George's Day so as a culinary nod to our patron saint we thought we'd find out where in Kent is the best place to get a full English breakfast?

That was the question put to followers of KentOnline's social media channels and we were inundated with suggestions from around the county for top destinations for a bit of brekkie – but which gets your vote?

Getting a good fry up at the weekend is a must for most – especially if you've had a heavy night on the booze – so we have been through all your responses on Twitter and Facebook and are highlighting the 10 most popular places suggested to get a tasty full English.

On Facebook, hundreds of people put forward their favourite on the KentOnline page.

There were also plenty of tweets suggesting different places to get a good fry-up, albeit a takeaway option or eating outside at the moment.

Now it's over to you to pick which you consider is the best in the county by taking part in our poll, here.

Receiving by far the most recommendations on social media was The Airport Cafe, in Main Road, Sellindge, near Ashford, which has a very loyal following.

In fact, four eateries in the Ashford area feature in the top 10, so it's certainly a hotspot if you like your sausage and eggs.

Among the fans of the Airport Cafe, were Dan Long, Terri Fisher, Martin Whittingham, Darren Gibbs, Angi Budd, Sophie Walker, Brian McKeon and Darren Glen Chappers, who all gave it the thumbs up.

Daisy Groombridge was also a fan and pointed out the cafe also delivers a full English.

Jenny Robbins said: "We love the airport cafe." Lisa Wellard seconded that and Debbie Weston agreed, along with many others.

Ben Eastwood also added: "100% without question."

And Lewis Kirrage, who used to deliver food for the cafe, said: "Got a cheeky bacon sarnie here and there. Was good."

Emma Lloyd also agreed and said: "Yep Airport is banging."

And there were also plenty of fans for the Tuck Inn, at Hartlip Hill, London Road, Newington, near Sittingbourne, which is also ranked as “Best cafe in town” on TripAdvisor. and the diner scooped more than 55 votes.

XKirsty Xleanne voted for it for providing the best fry-up, as did Tracey Westwell.

Simpson Carly agreed with Tracey, as did Craig Tutt, who said the family-run diner "did a banging Sunday lunch as well". Tracey Westwell agreed, adding its roasts were "amazing."

Sinead Fitzgerald uses it to get her fry-up hangover cure. Lisa Leonard was also a top fan along with Corrina Moorey.

Kerry Lewis also voted for the Tuck Inn, adding: "Love their milkshakes too."

Michele Tina Scamp was another fan, as were Stevie Sedge, Daniel Bacon, Nick Goodall, Danielle Izzard, Karen Lovell, George Ragnar Ragnarrson, Luke O'Brien, Jay Murphy, Matt Bridges and Jay Murphy, who all said the diner was the best place to tuck into a full English.

There was also a very loyal following for the Willesborough Cafe & Pie and Mash shop, in Church Road, Willesborough, Ashford.

More than 30 people voted for the eatery.

Sam Morris was a top fan and said it was "without a doubt" the best place to grab a fry-up.

Jamie Weatherall, Paul Butcher, Siobhan Cooney Draper also voted for the cafe.

Jamie added: "There really is no better place, I've never once turned up and been disappointed with the food – not many places can pull off a perfect fry up every time.

"I look forward to it being open and coming straight back."

Neil Bear added: "There’s no better place to have a full English breakfast than Willesborough Cafe and Pie N Mash shop.

"Can’t get enough of the good food and friendly service.

"I’ve had a few breakfasts elsewhere but nothing can beat the food there."

There was also a lot of love for Nell's Cafe, in Watling Street, Gravesend.

The famous diner, just off the A2, has been used as a popular filming location for various shows and movies and is a firm favourite with film crews. got almost 30 votes.

Rachel Linton said: "Nell’s cafe A2 - the best." Lots of people agreed with her, including Sandra Monaghan Hassan, who also happens to run the place. She said: "Nell's Cafe - great atmosphere and food."

Next most popular was Aunt Sally's Kitchen in Allington, Maidstone.

Alan Stevens voted for it and said: "Proper food, you can tell a decent cafe by its quality of bacon and sausages.

Hazel M Martin also voted for the cafe along with more than 20 others.

Alana Littlejohn said: "Without a doubt serves the best breakfast, not only is the meat locally sourced and cooked to perfection, the staff are amazing and will cater to your dietary needs."

And also worth a visit is the Goose on the Green cafe in Walmer.

Jon Ward is a massive fan and has been enjoying hearty breakfasts there.

He said: "Absolutely incredible. I've been eating for over half a century now and this is without doubt the very best breakfast I've ever had."

Others also agreed, such as Jay Murray who said: "Goose on the green is unbelievable."

Adam Ashley added: "Jay totally agree!!! Best breakfasts!!!"

Louise Standen said: "It is just superb."

The award-winning cafe is also ranked as number one out of 15 restaurants in the town on Tripadvisor

Coming seventh in the social media poll was The Blue And White Cafe in Hythe Rd, Smeeth, Ashford.

Lindsey Joanne Beaumont, said the Ashford cafe was definitely the place to get the best fry-up.

Nikki Dunn, Beverly Maller, and Andrea Lesley Jane Barden and Anthony Pugsley Fagg all agreed.

Ms Barden added: "The last one we had at Blue and White opposite Secret Garden on main road was very good and reasonable."

At least 10 others also suggested the cafe did a top-notch full English.

And there was also a wave of support for the Nucleus Arts Centre & Cafe Nucleus, in High Street, Chatham.

Lyn Jarrett, Keely Hallen and Lisa Ravenshear all suggested it was the best place to get a full English.

And Beth Angharad James said it had "the best black pudding ever!"

Nicola Gillham added: "All ingredients are produced in Kent too!"

Kathryn Fowler said she also liked its sister eatery, Cafe Nucleus, in Rochester, adding: "My favourite place ever for breakfast!"

More than 10 others also voted for the new Café Grace, in Water House, Victoria Road, Ashford.

Tracy Himmer voted for it and said: "Breakfast is amazing. Great value and lovely service."

Lucy Fuller, Andrew Brown, Vicky Bennett and Cheryl Phillips, were also among its fans.

And there were plenty of fans of the The Pantry, Fort Amherst, Chatham.

Scott Belcher, voted for it, as did Debbie Sweeney, who said: "Had one just now."

Kellie Milano concurred with Scott and Debbie.

Derek May added: "Try all of the others and then try the best The Pantry Chatham you won't be disappointed."

And many of you suggested the best place to get a jolly good fry-up, was making one at home.

Jacob Lee said: "In my kitchen. I can make 4 full English with sausage, bacon, egg, beans, tomato, hash brown, mushrooms, black pudding and fried bread for about a fiver with stuff from Aldi.

"Pay that for one in the cafe."

Other places to receive significant backing that did not make the final, include: The Quex Barn, Birchington; Oxleys Kitchen in Gravesend; Leahs Bistro, Maidstone; Big Baps, Canterbury; The Hengist in Aylesford; The Waterfront in Deal; and No.84 in Gravesend, to name but a few.
