AUSTRALIAN actor Ben Nicholas, best known for his role as Stingray in the TV soap Neighbours, will be switching on Sittingbourne’s Christmas Lights.
Ben, 19, is currently rehearsing for his role as Jack in Canterbury’s pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.
But he will taking time out from his schedule for the switch-on event on Saturday, November 25, at 5pm in Central Avenue, the finale of a day packed with events.
The high street will have more than a dozen stalls selling a variety of products for people looking for Christmas presents. There will also be funfair rides for children. The annual parade begins at 4pm from East Street.
It will go along the high street, West Street, Park Road, Albany Road, Avenue of Remembrance and finish at Central Avenue.
Organiser James Wintle said they still need more people to take part in the parade and are keen to hear from schools.
“We’ve got bands this year, the Boys’ Brigade and the Herne Bay Sea Cadets as well lots of others, but none of the schools have responded. We would love to see them take part, as well the Brownies and Scouts.”
If you would like to take part on foot in the parade or would like a stall in the High Street contact Mr Wintle on 01795 475232 or Pam Griggs on 01795 475773.
