Bonfire blaze wrecks sheds
07:50, 27 April 2009
A bonfire which got out of control destroyed four sheds in Strood.
Firefighters from Strood, Medway and Hoo stations were called out to an area just off Cooling Road, Frindsbury and spent about an hour putting out the flames.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said after the incident on Friday night: “Unfortunately the bonfire had been lit close to a tree, fence and the sheds.
"It quickly spread and the person who lit it had no means of putting it out.
“If you are going to light a bonfire, always have water on hand to put it out just in case it does spread.”
