00:00, 31 August 2001
TWO boys escaped injury after their ‘den’ made from an old sofa and armchair caught fire.
The friends, aged nine and ten, were playing in the back garden of a house at Dane Gardens, Margate, when smoke and flames were spotted coming from the old furniture.
The blaze was quickly brought under control by Margate firefighters although some garden fencing was damaged.
Police believe the fire may have been started deliberately. An investigation is being carried out.
