Brands set to host Bemsee stars
16:01, 31 August 2005
BRANDS HATCH will host the conclusion of the Bemsee Nationwide Championships this weekend.
Kent rider John-Paul Scott, top of the Clubman and Supersport 600 standings, leads local interest.
Scott wrapped up the title at Snetterton last week. He is also competing in the Champions of Brands series.
Scott lies fifth in the points and will have a tough job to overhaul the Powerbike riders by the time the competition ends in mid-October.
Another Kent rider, Matt Goldsmith, is second in the BMZRC 250s, but needs more than a victory in the championship-deciding meeting.
He also needs some misfortune to befall Chris Rogers, who heads the title race.
Other local competitors in the same race include Longfield’s Paul Benford.
Simon Lowes, from Sevenoaks, is under pressure from Danny Palmer in his bid to hold on to seventh place in the Supersport 400s.
The meeting includes action from sidecars, including Kent couple Bob and Lynn Greenwood, ninth in the Formula 1 sidecar series.
Tickets cost £12 per adult per day from September 2-4, with children 12 and under free.
