GRANTS are now available to enhance the landscape of the North Downs in Doddington and Newnham.

Community groups and landowners are urged to apply for the money, which will help pay for one-off projects in the Mid Kent Downs area, part of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Mid Kent Downs officer Sally Evans said: "The area is characterised by sweeping chalk downland with great views, wide arable fields interspersed with hedgerows and pockets of ancient woodland.

"This grant scheme aims to conserve and enhance the diverse elements of the landscape in accordance with the traditional character of the area and the wants and needs of local people."
