THE mutilated bodies of two cats have been found at the end of a villager's driveway in The Quarries area of Boughton Monchelsea, near Maidstone.
The resident, who does not wish to be named, was so disturbed by the discovery that he attended a meeting of Boughton Monchelsea Parish Council to highlight the problem.
He told the meeting that since his original finding, earlier this month, more cats had been found dead in the area.
Resident and Kent Messenger village correspondent Daphne Knight, of Heath Road, Boughton Monchelsea, who was at the meeting, said: "There are two cats that we all know about. And we know that there have been cats missing in the area.
"At the meeting the man said he couldn't describe the cats' horrific injuries because ladies were present. So as far as I know two cats have been killed unpleasantly and there are a possible two more that another person has found."
PC Brian Hillman, from Maidstone and Malling Police, told the meeting that an investigation would take place. Gianna Pollero, spokeswoman for Maidstone and Malling Police, said: "We are aware of the situation and are investigating it.
"We would encourage people to inform us of any problems and we need to know of any other incidents."
