Charity's appeal for foster carers
00:00, 02 November 2001
A CAMPAIGN is being launched by the children's charity NCH to find more foster carers in Kent. The service is seeking applicants from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, marital status or ethnicity.
Annie Bousfield, Project Manager of Foster Care NCH, South East, said there was an increased need for black carers from whom applications would be particularly welcomed.
"We would love to hear from applicants who can provide stability and a high standard of care for a variety of young people from babies to teens." she said. "Many of these young people display challenging behaviour as a result of complicated and often disrupted backgrounds.
"We need foster carers who will help them to reach their full potential. All receive rigorous training and we provide extensive support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you think you fit the bill please give us a call."
Foster carer, Peter Young of Sycamore Drive, Aylesford, commented: "There is a great sense of community as all the foster carers meet up regularly to share experiences and swap information. The rewards of fostering are many and varied and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for that extra challenge in their lives."
Anyone who is interested and would like an application pack is asked to call 0800 7835351.
