I was pleased with our winning goal at Brentford last weekend and not just because I supplied the cross for Bradley Wright-Phillips.
We work hard in training on getting the ball out wide and delivering with quality – and as early as possible.
I thought the match against Brentford, which continued our winning run, was probably one of my best performances in a Charlton shirt and I was particularly happy with all the crosses I put into the box.
That’s what my game is all about and hopefully Bradley, Yann Kermorgant or Paul Hayes will be there to finish them off.
That said, I’m still getting my fitness up to speed at the moment and, to a certain degree, still getting used to playing for Charlton.
At my former club, Dagenham & Redbridge, we had a smaller pitch and my job was simply to get forward as much as possible and to get as many crosses into the box as possible.
At Charlton, it’s disciplined and I’ve got to get back into my position and help out the team more as well.
It has taken me a bit longer than I would have liked to get going this season but part of that is my own fault because I was suspended for the opening game after being sent off toward the end of last season.
Scott Wagstaff started the season in fine form as well and I missed a few games through illness, so it’s not gone entirely to plan on a personal basis but things couldn’t be better from a team point of view. That’s what counts.
Bradley is on fire up front at the moment. It’s hard to argue against the fact that he is the best striker in the league and on Monday night, he’ll be up against Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes, who is also on a hot streak.
The fans will be relishing both of them in action in the same game but, of course, it will be a battle between the two favourites for promotion as well.
Huddersfield have done well to set a new Football League record of 43 games unbeaten, so maybe the pressure is off them going into the match against us.
But we’ll be going into it with a lot of momentum and looking to get the right result.
