It was good to pick up another hard-earned point against Hull City on Saturday in conditions I have scarcely played in in my career.

The incessant rain made for a scrappy second half and pretty much spoiled things as a spectacle after a keenly contested opening half.

Both sides gave their all and you could say a point each was a fair outcome.

We’ve got to be pleased to remain unbeaten from our opening three games and it’s been noticeable in the opening week or so that the tempo has been so much quicker.

The games we have played have been end to end and you find yourself coming up against better players. Against Leicester last week they were able to bring on an England international in David Nugent.

Leicester and other sides in this league will have the resources to do that so we will have some tough challenges ahead. But we are more than holding our own at the moment.

The run of fixtures at Birmingham and then at home to Leicester and Hull looked a tough introduction back to Championship life so five points is a decent return.

Obviously we would like to win our home games but you could say we might have only got a point against Leicester on another night, so these things even themselves out.

Naturally after us and Sheffield Wednesday have started so well the inevitable questions have been asked about us repeating the-back-to-back promotions achieved by Norwich and Southampton from League 1 to the Premiership.

Of course that’s the dream but we will not get that far ahead of ourselves. We worked incredibly hard to get back into the Championship last season and enjoyed winning games week in, week out and wanted to take that momentum into this year.

This will be a tough season with many hard games but we remain confident as a group of players that we can get plenty of positive results.

Next up is Nottingham Forest away on Saturday. They have been big-spending and are unbeaten so far as well so it will be a tough fixture and our next home game after that is a big London derby with Crystal Palace. It goes to show these games don’t come any easier but there is nothing to fear. We’ve got a big squad with a lot of talent.
