Chatham director of football Steve Binks has warned of the threat posed by Maidstone Road old boy Byron Walker ahead of the FA Trophy tie at Herne Bay on Saturday.

Winger-turned-striker Walker (pictured), who played under Binks at Chatham, is back at Bay after a trial with Football League club Oldham.

He’s set to start the preliminary round tie at Winch’s Field so Town’s defence will have to be on their game.

Binks said: "I had Byron here when I was manager and he’s my type of player.

"He’s a tricky customer who’s quick, has good balance and takes players on.

"He was Herne Bay’s top scorer when they won the Kent League last year and is a major threat so we’ll have to look out for him."

But Binks believes Chatham have their own match-winner in Gary Tilley, a player who’s more than capable of causing problems for Ryman League, Division 1 South side Bay.

He added: "Gary reminds me of Byron in that he has good pace and likes to get at players.

"He’s blown hot and cold this season but he’s scored some unbelievable goals for us."
