A YOUNG couple are embroiled in a row with their local Chinese take-away after alleging they found the well-manicured tip of a woman's fingernail in their meal.
Joyce Sinar, 29, and her partner Simon Lake, 18, claim they found the object in a chicken and pineapple dish which had been delivered from the Full Moon Chinese take-away in Chatham.
Miss Sinar, of Seymour Road, Chatham, claimed her partner discovered the fingernail while halfway through eating the meal. She phoned the Full Moon and complained.
Shop manager Mr Chan said: “I was quite happy to refund the lady, but she demanded I go round to her house. My business is only a small one and I cannot leave." He stressed that he did not employ female chefs so if the fingernail was in the chicken and pineapple, it must have come from a pre-packed pineapple tin.
He added: “The lady is quite within her rights to complain - but I was quite happy to give her a full refund but because I would not go to her house, she refused.”
Miss Sinar refutes this and claimed the manager told her he didn’t think the woman’s fingernail had come from his establishment as he didn’t employ any female chefs.
She added: “The manager offered to come and collect the nail but I decided not to give it to him because then we had no proof. I wanted a full refund but the manager said he would only replace the chicken and pineapple. I think he should have done more.”
