Chris Palmer in contention for return to Gillingham squad to face Chesterfield
09:22, 04 May 2011
Utility man Chris Palmer could be involved for Gillingham this weekend after making steady recovery from a serious knee injury.
Palmer (pictured) was left sidelined following a training injury which has kept him out for five months.
Prior to that he had been one of Gillingham’s top performers and netted five goals in 20 games during the first half of the season.
He was back out on the Priestfield pitch before the game against Macclesfield and is close to making a return to the 18-man matchday squad.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler said: "He has trained this week and whether he is going to be ready we will have to wait and see what week he has.
"With the injuries we have had on Saturday you never know.
"He could be in the squad. We are down on numbers and we will regroup this week and see where it takes us."
