Chris Whelpdale remains confident that Gillingham have got what it takes to be a force to be reckoned with in League 2 this season.
The Gills ended the weekend sitting 10th after a 2-0 defeat at Morecambe on Saturday – their second defeat in a week and their sixth of the league campaign.
Despite the stuttering form, Whelpdale - a summer signing from Peterborough - is sure things will come good for the Gills.
He said: "We have definitely got the squad and it’s good enough to be in the top three fighting for the top spot.
"We just have to get a run going. It’s easily done in this league. Anyone can beat anyone.
"Nobody has really pulled away that much so the results have gone our way slightly this week. We have a really good chance of doing something and we have to just realise that.
"We just need to find that consistency and once we get that we will surge up the league. We are capable.
"If we can get a little run going, five or six games plus, it will put us back in the mix."
