Climate campers to target Allington Incinerator
11:51, 01 August 2008
Environmentalists are to target the controversial Allington incinerator as part of their week long protest against a new coal-fired power station in north Kent.
The Maidstone Green Party, who have long been outspoken critics of the incinerator, will join a group of "climate caravans" making their way to Kingsnorth power station, Hoo, stopping at sites they claim are un-green.
Among them is the Allington incinerator where they will lay a wreath tomorrow afternoon at 3.30.
Although the direct emissions from Allington are likely to be lower than those from older incinerators, the Green Party says dangerous chemicals are still produced by incineration.
