The coastguard had to rescue two people after being tasked to a stranded boat for the second time.
Thames Coastguard received a 999 call from the 27ft yacht Speedwell at 3am yesterday. The boat had three people on board and had broken down but the crew were unsure where they were.
Thames Coastguard sent the Sheerness RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and Medway Coastguard Rescue team to find them and Speedwell was located aground near Motney Hill in Rainham.
All the crew were fit and well and decided to stay onboard until the next high water.
But later that day, just before 2pm, the lifeboat and coastguard were tasked again to the stranded vessel.
Two of the crew had to be taken to the shore by the lifeboat team. The yacht was refloated shortly afterwards and was towed by the lifeboat to Hoo Marina.
Yesterday the coastguard also helped rescue an elderly woman who had fallen on a walk.
Just before 10am, Thames Coastguard received a call from paramedics requesting help to recover the casualty who had fallen on a coastal path near Minster on the Isle of Sheppey.
Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Team attended and and assisted in recovering the casualty to the ambulance. The woman was taken to Medway hospital for treatment.
