Manufacturer expands capacity with new machine

A manufacturer of fire detection and alarm control panels has underlined its confidence in the future by investing in a new sheet metal punching machine.
Kentec Electronics, based in Fawkes Avenue, Dartford, has stepped up capacity by installing an Amada automatic machine alongside its original equipment purchased some five years ago.
The firm, founded more than 25 years ago, says the new machine will significantly increase Kentec’s production capacity and allow the company to continue to offer customers a fast order turn around.
Earlier this week, official figures showed that UK manufacturing output rose by 1.9%, the steepest monthly rise since July last year. Kentec is enjoying rising worldwide demand for its fire detection and alarm control panel products. Improved and extended tooling capability will also add to productivity and enhance quality, the firm said.
Kentec director Ray King said: “We are totally customer focused, and are continually looking at ways in which we can improve our products and our customer service. The net result of this latest addition will be better product, faster turnaround and reduced costs which will allow us to remain at the top of an ever more competitive market.”
In 2009, Kentec was granted the Queen’s Royal Warrant of Appointment in recognition of its status as an official supplier of Fire Detection Equipment to the Royal Household. It was awarded Investor in People status in 2004.
