A COUPLE from Kent are celebrating after winning almost £3 million on the Lotto.
Arthur and Jackie Wright, from Erith, scooped £2,964,163 with a Lucky Dip ticket in last Wednesday’s draw.
The win could not have come at a better time for the couple as they are expecting their first grandchild in June.
Mr Wright, 47, who works as a process operator for Glaxo Smith Kline in Dartford, said the news was still sinking in.
He said: “I was so amazed at winning it, my wife and I are over the moon. We’ve told our close friends and family.”
Mr Wright bought the winning ticket at TJ’s News, in Northend Road, Erith.
He found out when he checked the lottery numbers on Thursday.
The family are planning to buy first homes for their eldest two children and set up trust funds for the younger two, who are still at school.
Mr Wright, who grew up in Bexley, said: “It’s early days and we have to be careful. We may consider buying a slightly bigger house than the one we’re in. My wife has always wanted a dining room. And we’d like to give the boys the holiday of a lifetime, maybe Disneyworld in Florida.”
Glaxo Smith Kline have given Mr Wright some time off work to come to terms with his life changing win.
His wife currently works as a masker for a paintspraying company.
Jagdish Sahtoa, who runs TJ’s News, said Mr Wright had been a regular customer for about six years.
She said: “I’m very happy and I wish him good luck.”
