Round-the-world yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur was in Dover at
the weekend.

Her yacht Scarlet Oyster sailed into Dover Harbour on Friday at
the end of the first leg of a voyage which will see crews of young
people sailing right round Britain.

All the youngsters, aged from eight to 18, are recovering from
cancer and leukaemia, and are being given the chance to take part
in the adventure by the Ellen MacArthur Trust.

Among those on board from Brighton to Dover, was 12-year-old
Joseph Cunningham, from Dartford.

Dame Ellen had hoped to be with them, but she was unwell just
before the weekend.

However, she had recovered in time to give the first of a series
of talks at The Ark Christian Centre in Dover on Saturday about her
experiences at sea, as well as the work of the trust.

The 48-foot yacht will cover 2,000 nautical miles during its
four-month voyage, stopping at 17 ports around Great Britain.
