KENT'S Kelly Brook is known for her successful career as an actress, model and television presenter but now she is turning her talents to ballroom dancing.
Kelly, from Rochester, will be adding a touch of glamour to the fifth series of Strictly Come Dancing to begin on the BBC in October.
Mastering the moves on the dance floor won’t be too much trouble for Kelly who trained at Italia Conti stage school and who is an accomplished tap dancer.
She is pairing up with professional dancer Brendan Cole. The couple will be hoping to repeat the success of Brendan’s appearance in the first series when he was crowned winner of the show with news presenter Natasha Kaplinsky.
Kelly and Brendan will be battling it out on the dance floor each week against a host of other celebrities including former EastEnder Letitia Dean, who played Sharon Watts, GMTV presenter Kate Garraway and former England footballer John Barnes.
In the first show, the boys will dance to stay in the competition, performing either a waltz or a cha-cha-cha, while the girls remain safe and perform a group number. Then it will be the girls’ turn in week two.
They will be dancing either the quickstep or a rumba for their chance to stay in the show.
The couples will face the public's vote and judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli.
In week one, a male will go, in week two a female will go, and from the third week, the lowest scoring pair will drop out.
It will be a busy few months for Kelly, a former pupil of Rochester’s Thomas Aveling School. She will be juggling her rehearsals with the publicity for her first novel, Life Style, due out in October.
This will be followed by the launch of her own perfume in time for Christmas. She has also just signed a two-year deal to continue designing lingerie and swimwear for fashion retailer New Look.
