TEN vehicles were banned from driving on Kent roads after police declared them unsafe to travel.
Traffic Patrol Officers from Kent Police and partner agencies took part in roads checks at the M2 Farthing Corner service area in Medway on Friday.
The operation, was targeting unroadworthy goods vehicles used on the county's road network.
Traffic police, with the assistance of the Vehicle Operating Services Agency (VOSA) and HM Revenue and Customs, spent the day examining goods vehicles to ensure that they were safe to use on the road.
Sgt Bob Smith said: "Operations of this nature are very important to the safety of the county’s roads.
"The public deserve to know that unroadworthy, unsafe vehicles are being removed from use.
"Additionally, legitimate haulage companies who spend thousands of pounds on the maintenance of their fleet can be re-assured that those who do not comply with the law are targeted."
Ten vehicles were stopped and declared unsafe to travel. A further two were seized after they were found without valid insurance.
Another seven vehicles were issued with notices requiring them to get faults fixed within the next fortnight.
