An escort claims Sarah Everard's murderer rang her for sex just hours after he disposed of his victim's body.

Evil Wayne Couzens, a married father-of-two from Deal, reportedly contacted the call girl through a website in February and began sending her messages, all while he was planning to kidnap and rape a woman.

The 34-year-old escort, a married mum from Kent, says she now keeps thinking "it could have been me".

Last month Couzens, a former Metropolitan Police officer, admitted kidnapping, raping and killing marketing executive Sarah and will die in prison after he received a whole-life sentence.

After cuffing and locking Sarah in the back of his hire car on March 3 in a fake arrest in London, the killer drove to the outskirts of Dover where he raped and murdered her. A post-mortem revealed she had been strangled.

Warped Couzens then dumped her body in Great Chart, near Ashford – 80 miles from where he had picked her up.

Shortly after he took his wife and children to the same woods, where they played metres from where her body was hidden - the same day he is reported to have called the escort.

She said she missed the call and did not hear back from him.

Couzens was arrested on March 9 at his home in Freemen's Way, Deal.

The escort claims police contacted her about a week after Miss Everard's body was found to check on her, after discovering Couzens had been messaging her.

The woman told the Daily Mail: "The police told me that the man I had been messaging was the man who kidnapped and murdered Sarah. They wanted to see if I was OK.

"It’s scary – I keep thinking, 'That could’ve been me'. It’s shocking how much of a lucky escape I’ve actually had. "

Speaking at Couzens' sentencing, Lord Justice Fulford told him: "You have eroded the confidence the public are entitled to have in the police forces of England and Wales."

Yesterday it emerged five police officers from different forces will face misconduct proceedings after two separate investigations into social media messages related to the case.

An independent inquiry will also be launched into the “systematic failures” that allowed Sarah Everard’s murderer to be employed as a police officer.

Magic FM radio presenter Emma Wilson came out earlier this month, claiming she was flashed by Couzens in 2008 – and that Met Police officers laughed when she reported it.
