Kent Police stop lorry with broken windscreen
13:41, 17 May 2017
An unrepentant lorry driver pulled over by Kent Police after they spotted his shattered windscreen told them he wasn't getting it repaired until he reached France.
The driver had travelled along the M25 and was heading to the Port of Dover via J12 of the M20 near Folkestone when he was pulled over by police.
He told officers the shattered windscreen wasn't a problem as it was being propped up by the steering wheel.
He added he was planning to get it repaired in Calais.
Roads police described the lorry driver's actions as 'madness' in a tweet.
A spokesman added: "Officers from Kent Police’s Commercial Vehicle Unit stopped a lorry close to junction 12 of the M20 on the morning of Wednesday 17 May 2017.
"The lorry was found to have damage to its front chassis and the driver, a man in his 30s, was issued with a graduated fixed penalty notice. He was also issued with three points to his licence."
