THE driver of a ten tonne tanker suffered an arm injury when his vehicle overturned on a main road.

The tanker, which contained 500 gallons of waste material, rolled over at about 2.50am on Wednesday on the A289 at Wainscott, near Rochester.

The road was blocked and traffic trying to use the road had to be held back before it could be diverted via another route.

Police handling the crash scene eventually had to close the road while they called in for help to remove the tanker which was loaded with human waste. It was emptied of its contents via a huge hose which sucked the waste out and transferred it to another vehicle.

A small amount of the contents did spill on to the road but it quickly dispersed down drains. The lorry was eventually moved from the road at about 7am.
