Driver killed in head-on crash in Farningham

A man was pronounced dead in hospital after a head-on crash in Farningham, near Dartford.
The collision happened in Scratchers Lane, off the A20, at around 4.30am Saturday.
A man in his 40s who was driving a BMW involved in the crash suffered fatal injuries. He was cut free from the wreckage of his car by firefighters but he could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at Darent Valley Hospital.
A police spokesman said the victim had earlier left a garage forecourt "at speed" after officers had tried to speak to him.
The spokesman added: "The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed about the incident."
Three people travelling in the other car involved sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed for over nine hours to allow forensic investigations to take place.
