Eat local Kent food challenge day 4

We've set our editorial apprentice, Rebecca Tuffin, the challenge to only eat foods where all ingredients are from Kent for a whole week.
She has now completed her fourth day - check out how day three went by clicking here.
I'm running low on supplies and have already spent quite a lot on ingredients, which means potatoes will be the main food source today.
The cravings for sugar and fat continue to grow- it's probably because I'm just a typical middle-class girl who normally has access to surplus amounts of hummus, olives and exotic takeaways.
In the modern, developed world, many of us are so used to a huge amount of choice when it comes to food, and don't think twice about the journey the ingredients have taken.
Breakfast
Gooseberries joined strawberries in my bowl this morning.
They are a very tart fruit, and made my eyes water a little - but at least I'm getting my vitamins.
The traditional English berries were £2.99 from Haven Farm Shop.
I drizzled a little Loose honey on them to sweeten them up which was much more palatable.
My mum said they're normally cooked up with sugar and used for a crumble - sounds good to me - love a good pudding.
Lunch
Now, here is a lunch as basic as it can get - a pot of potatoes.
This time, I have moved on to some slightly smaller new potatoes from Haven Farm Shop in Sutton Valence and grown nearby.
A bag of about 10 cost £2.24 which is pretty decent I think.
At least I'm getting a bit of a detox this week.
Plenty of fruit and vegetables and just a bit of honey and fruit instead of sugar... makes me feel good to know I'm not putting loads of chemicals into my body with every mouthful.
Dinner
Me and a few of my esteemed KentOnline colleagues went to the Ship & Trades at Chatham Maritime after work yesterday, and I was a little concerned I'd be drinking ale - of which I'm not really a fan.
But much to my delight, Shepherd Neame do a lager.
It was crisp, refreshing and at a reasonable £4.20 - I'll definitely be drinking it again.
When I got home, I decided to do a bit of pan throwing. By this, I mean throwing a load of food in a pan.
Carrots, green beans, potatoes, asparagus, courgette and a little bacon - a tasty medley to munch on after a lovely evening out.
Tea
I've decided to make a spot of nettle tea.
There are hundreds at the back of my garden, growing taller by the second.
I think my dad appreciated me using a few for a brew.
It smelt very earthy - like a bit of soil had come with the nettles.
Cautiously, I took my first sip.
It has a subtle flavour, much like green tea - it was okay - not a patch on English Breakfast though.
Daily updates on what Rebecca has been eating will be published on KentOnline each morning this week at 6am.
