An extra 50,000 seats will be available of the county's key commuter rail routes from Monday.

It comes as train operator Southeastern revamps its timetable as it looks to put on a full service in anticipation of more and more people returning to work after the lockdown.

From Monday, a new timetable will be operating on the county's main routes with more frequent services and additional carriages in order for social distancing to be observed.

Southeastern says 98% of its services, pre-Covid, will be back up and running.

At the same time, it is launching its SeatFinder service to enable travellers to identify which services will be less busy in a bid to boost confidence in returning to public transport.

Among the main changes will be more frequent services between St Pancras and Faversham on the high-speed route, four trains an hour between St Pancras and Ebbsfleet and the reintroduction of the frequency of high-speed services between Dover Priory and Ramsgate.

There will also be an increase on services between London to Dover, via Faversham and Canterbury East, and Sittingbourne to Sheerness.

Strood to Maidstone West services will see an additional two train per house while Cannon Street services via Woolwich and Sidcup and via Woolwich and Bexleyheath and reintroduced.

Also returning are semi-fast trains between Charing Cross and Gravesend - upping the frequency of trains at New Eltham, Sidcup, Bexley and Crayford to six train per hour.
