"He will be with us in our hearts forever."
These are the emotional words from the family of a 64-year-old man found stabbed to death at his Ramsgate home.
John Joyce - a father-of-three, grandfather-of-four and one of 10 siblings - was discovered in his home in Conyngham Close on Wednesday (July 8). He had lived there since 1973.
A family statement issued by his sister Margaret, daughters Sarah and Angela and son Ian said: "It is a huge loss to us all. He had many people who cared deeply for him and he will be with us in our hearts forever."
A police spokesman said the whole Conyngham Close community remembered a "caring, kind, loyal and trusted friend".
The retired electrician would help neighbours around their homes, collect friends' children from school and host community barbeques.
David Alberto, 31, of Albert Street, Ramsgate, has been charged with the murder of Mr Joyce.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear again at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 27.
