Two goals in the first 14 minutes helped move Welling up to third in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.

Their comprehensive 3-0 win at Farnborough was never in doubt as the tore the hosts apart at times with an impressive attacking display.

The tone was set as early as the fourth minute when Ross Lafayette’s shot was only parried by keeper Craig Bradshaw and Joe Healy (pictured) turned in the rebound to put Welling ahead.

Jamie Day then played in Keirnan Hughes-Mason, who saw both his shot and the rebound saved by the keeper.

But the forward did find the target on 14 minutes, albeit from a cross when his ball into the area eluded Bradshaw and found the back of the net.

Lee Clarke volleyed over from close range when he should have made it 3-0 while Farnborough struggled to pose a threat.

The closest they came was when an error by the otherwise impressive Fraser Franks let in Dave Tarpey, who clipped the ball past keeper Sam Mott only to see his effort ruled out by the offside flag.

The game was put beyond doubt on 65 minutes when Loui Fazakerley’s cross found Hughes-Mason, whose volley came back off the bar and Healy showed good composure to slot in the rebound.

Substitute Jake Gallagher was denied by a close-range block while Farnborough’s best chance came in the last minute, but Nic Ciardini shot wide with just Mott to beat.
